Patrick Haley
PERSONAL – Patrick lives in Poulsbo, Washington with his wife Sarah, son Shamus (13), and daughter Lettie (9). He owns a large tree service company and spends most of his days climbing some of the tallest trees you’ve ever seen – the pictures scare me. Patrick has been a recreational golfer most of his life, playing a few times per year.
TIE TO THE MONTEMAR – I’ve known Patrick longer than I’ve known anybody else in this group – 33 years. My first memory of the guy was at Snider Park. I was 10 and he was 11. I was pitching and he was up to bat. Patrick squared to bunt and left his entire front side exposed. I was an asshole of a child. He had squared early and as soon as I saw this I threw it as hard as I could right at him and hit him in the dick. He fell to the ground. We’ve been great friends ever since.
Patrick is the type of guy/friend we should all be lucky enough to have. We’ve lived in different states for 20 years but when we get together it feels like no time has passed. If I were ever in need of help he’s the first guy I would call because I know without a doubt he’d be there without thinking twice. He’s an incredible husband and father and friend and a great guy for this tournament.
Patrick has gotten to know all of my California buddies over the years and will and now has a built in excuse to hang out with all of us at least once a year.
ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MONTEMAR – Aside from being a great member, I’ve got a feeling Patrick will come through with something cool this year.
WHAT NEEDEDED TO HAPPEN IN 2024– Patrick’s 3rd place finish in 2022 is evidence that anybody can win this tournament. He’d be the first to admit he’s far from a scratch golfer but still enjoys this game because he likes being outside with his friends. For him to win this year he’ll need to figure his driver out – something that has mostly escaped him his entire life. He owns his slice though, has solid payment points, and a healthy handicap. If he can get off the tee Patrick can find a way to be there again come Sunday.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN 2024 – Patrick manage to finish with a higher point total than more than half the field. The lose your club scramble rules make Pat an MVP scrambler and as I type this the wheels are spinning in my head for the perfect scramble team. Pat gets this and has fun at all these things and Coeur D’Alene will be no different.
WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN 2025 – Patrick needs to catch some luck in the random pairings, draft well, and look to become the most important man on a quality built scramble team. He’ll also need to hit some greens on the par 3s. If he can do those things there’s no reason he can’t walk away with another top 10 finish.
ODDS TO WIN 108-1
FUN FACT – Last year, Patrick spent the last 6 or 7 weeks staying at an Airbnb in Schauestein Germany, a tiny country town of only 2000 people, with his wife and children.
